Peruvian Walnut

  • Prime
Grain is usually straight, but can be irregular. Has a medium to coarse texture. Heartwood tends to be darker than temperate walnut species, with a deep chocolate brown color, sometimes with a purplish hue. Peruvian Walnut is rated as moderately durable in terms of decay resistance, though it is susceptible to insect attack. Typically easy to work provided the grain is straight and regular.

Green White Oak

Green white oak will have similar properties to kiln dried, except that it will allow for steam bending more readily to form curves in shipbuilding applications.

Soft Maple

Roughly 25% softer than Hard Maple. Grey-brown to reddish hardwood. Fine, straight grain that is much easier to machine than hard maple. Takes stain easily.
