Who we serve

Our clients build exceptional things – vessels, homes, and fine objects made to last generations. We make sure the material is worthy of the work.

Shipwrights boat builders

Building hulls, decks, and cabin joinery demands timber that performs in the harshest environment – salt water, sun exposure, structural stress. Compromise on material and you compromise the vessel.

Preferred species: FEQ Burmese Teak, White Oak, Mahogany

Custom
home builders

Exterior cladding, structural timbers, and outdoor structures that face New England winters need species rated for exposure. The material has to outlast the build schedule – by decades.

Preferred species: Ipe, White Oak, Douglas Fir, Teak

Fine carpenters craftsmen

Furniture, cabinetry, and bespoke joinery where every surface is seen and every joint is tested. Grade matters. Consistency of figure and colour across a commission is not negotiable.

Preferred species: FEQ Burmese Teak, White Oak, Mahogany

Our clients know exactly what they need — and why it matters. If you’re still working it out, that’s fine too. Start with a conversation.

Unusual species, custom dimensions, or exceptional volume – get in touch and we’ll talk through what’s possible.

Why
America's Wood
Company

We are not a big-box supplier. We are not a commodity operation.

Origin and Procurement

We source selectively – direct relationships, known origins, species we’d stake our name on. If it doesn’t meet the grade, it doesn’t enter the yard.

Sorting Standards

Every piece is graded to FEQ and trade-equivalent standards. We apply the same rigour to every species we carry – not just the headline timber.

Trade Expertise

We understand how this material is used. Custom dimensions, special orders, volume sourcing – we handle it because we’ve seen what the work demands.

How we work

No catalogue browsing, no guessing. Tell us about the build — we’ll find the right material and get it to you.

Breed advice

Tell us your project — shipbuilding, fine joinery, exterior construction. We’ll advise on the right species, grade, and dimensions for the application.

Non-standard sizes

Working with unusual dimensions or specifications outside the standard catalog? We handle custom cuts and special orders on request.

Large-scale procurement

Large project requirements handled directly. We source volume orders with the same selectivity we apply to every board we carry.

Trading accounts

Regular trade accounts welcome. If you’re building consistently, we’d rather know your operation and plan around it.

From the Trade

We are not a big-box supplier. We are not a commodity operation.

A Texan like his brother, Ken’s career in engineering and corporate planning and finance helped him to develop the skills to ultimately chase his dream of operating a business in Maine, where his family holds 13 generations of history.  His greatest passion is seeing the transformation of the raw material AWC provides into the incredible products that our customer base generates.

A native Texan with deep-rooted family history in Maine, Zach’s background with both a technical degree in advanced mechanics from UTI, and a Criminal Justice degree from Sam Houston State help him to bring a unique communication style to the management of AWC’s operations.  Zach’s history in the maintenance and upkeep of automobiles and watercraft combine with his education and training to make him a valuable part of translating our customer’s design thesis into reality for their projects.

Another Native Mainer, AJ keeps the literal wheels running at AWC.  With his background in automotive and industrial maintenance, there isn’t a tool or machine AJ is unfamiliar with.  His technical skills translate directly to his understanding of the most complex milling assignments here at AWC, where AJ excels at optimizing production and minimizing waste.

A native of New Hampshire, Peter is a consummate outdoorsman with a bachelors from UNH in History and Russian.  His Russian skills have proved handy more than a few times on site dealing with the logistics on deliveries!  Peter’s Unique appreciation for the outdoors and the handmade products that our customers produce from natural materials make him a valuable asset in material selection as part of the order fulfillment process.

A local Mainer, Julia joined AWC after a successful career as an accountant and retirement planning specialist.  With a background in construction from working with her father, she also holds a degree in finance and accounting from Thomas College, and her math skills and attention to detail come in quite handy when we are working on some of our more complex milling and design orders.

A native New-Yorker, Chrissy came to AWC after a successful career as an entrepreneur and co-founder of Knowles Mechanical, which she and her Husband ran for 18 years together.  Her background in business management and customer service makes her one of the first voices you will here when you contact our company, and a valuable asset to AWC’s office staff.
