Atlantic White Cedar (Juniper)

Straight grain with fine uniform texture, heartwood is light reddish brown, narrow sapwood is pale yellow-brown to almost white. High rot resistance. Easy to work with hand and machine tools, hold paint, stain and glue well.

High strength-to-weight ratios, high flexibility and tensile strength, and high shock resistance. Species is currently challenged due to an ongoing infestation of the invasive Emerald Ash Borer.

Straight to slightly wavy grain, medium to coarse texture. Moderately rot resistant, but susceptible to insects. Machines well, but moderate blunting effect on cutters. Stains, glues and finishes well.
